Game Notes 5/4:  Mound Westonka @ Southwest Christian Jordan

First – It is SW Christian with Jordan.  So apologies for that, but we are going to continue to call you SWC.  No offense intended – we are just lazy. Really.

Second – grass roots parent led live stream at field level.  Totally awesome.  Scoreboard bug - check  In game graphics - check.  Forget to unmute the camera for the first 10 minutes of the second half - check. Was it great to see parents that care?  Totally.  We think we got the goal scorers right…but maybe not.

Third – Gisella Harder is the real deal.  Listen – we don’t know her.  She might be the best kid in the world or a total brat.  Regardless, she clearly could have scored 15/17 of her team’s goals, but didn’t.  She’s literally directing her teammates around in the offense and feeding them the ball. A lot.  She can literally get to goal any time, but why would she?  It’s got to be way more fun to get her teammates (and we assume friends) involved.  Everyone all knows she can rip it anytime.  She still probably won 75% of the draws and had 6 goals.  If she was on BSM – my god (see what we did there).

Fourth – SWC has got to be the poster child why there should be two classes.  They’d be a menace at class A.  Start dangling some hardware in front of them and then we’d probably see Harder go really crazy (imagine her being the same team player without having to coast 75% of the time, trying to get a trophy with her squad).  And how much fun would it be for these girls?  It sure wouldn’t hurt the growth of the sport.  Shame on you MSHSL.  The most literal example of a disservice to athletes we can think of on this.

SWC goalie…had on #50.  We think rostered as #45.  Who cares? If so, a junior.  Doesn’t even try to clear the ball, but low key a wall.  Got to be a hockey goalie.  Good for her.

SWC won 17-4.  Whatever.  Are they going to compete with BSM or H-M to be the best girls lacrosse team in HIS Kingdom?  Nope.  Just cool to see a game on grass, not in a stadium, no one yelling at refs, and kids playing.

Watched this game and just smiled the whole time…not because this was game of the year…just because it was a game.

Now imagine if they weren’t playing for the right to get their doors blown off by Chan in the section quarter finals.  Go…bless yourself MSHSL.
