GIRLS Top 20 Preview: #15 Rosemount

Reminder: our list is based off of the laxnumbers ranking list…here. Don’t hate the journalists…hate the algorithm or your shooting percentage.

What They Were

10-5, 76.03 Lax Number Rating against a 73.23 Lax Number Schedule.

#2 seed in Section 6. They lost to #3 Edina in Section Semifinals, 9-6

What They Lost

Only (2) 2024s from last. year’s roster, both were starting defenders for the Irish.

Avery Sheedy - D: 6 GB/3 FT

Sydney Gilbertson - D: 23 GB/16 FT

Just as notable, are the pair of 2027s, Abi and Madi Harris. These two girls have been through the ringer, injury wise, and they’re only sophomores. Both are now recovering from their second knee injury, with Madi’s occurring before the 2024 season and Abi’s during the 2024 season.

You might be asking, “Source, why are we talking about Sophomores this year, who were out as Freshman last year?”

Well…while only appearing in 10 of the team’s 15 games, Abi was second on goals scored (32 to team lead 34) and lead the team in assists (28) and points (60). On a pretty deep team talent wise, who were mostly in their junior year. So yeah…worth, at least, discussing

And we’re going to be a little honest here…we had a lot more speculation written up, but here’s the bit: we don’t know their situation and we need to shine more light on what Rosemount does have. Maybe one or both will be back and better than ever. Maybe one or both will miss this high school year. We just know knee injuries to high school players suck and good luck to them and anyone else going through it.

What They Have Coming Back

2025 Emma Theisen - M: 34g/10a/44 points, 22 GB/22 FT/12 DC

2025 Aubrey Zaun - M: 29g/14a/43 points, 21 GB/7 FT/70 DC

2025 Izzy Mroczenski - A: 32g/8a/40 points

2025 Nessa Carrico - A: 24g/8a/32 points

2026 Rachel Joseph - GK: 7.93 GAA, 48.3%

What They Have Looking Forward

12 games on the books...Coach Long could help bail out a certain charter school that waits until the season to schedule their games. Not saying...just saying…

Of course, they have big bad #1 Lakeville South and rival #2 Prior Lake in their SSC schedule, but the Irish also have #8 Minnetonka, #11 Orono, and #12 Edina…along with spunky Bloomington Jefferson and Simley (all rankings are 2024 final lax number rankings).

Our Take

2-3 years ago, after their last state championship appearance, we had 2025 marked as THE season for Rosemount: they had (and still do have) a mega 2025 class, they had some youngins’ coming up and their goalie situation would be rock solid and experienced. Cut to a few years down the road and the Irish have been bit by the transfer bug (shout out Ella Mills) and injury bug (shout out Harris Twins). Still…the Irish will be a factor and will push Prior Lake in Section 6, but not quite as hard as what it could have been. The Lakers still will need to pay attention - we definitely don’t see the easy run they had through Section 6 last year, this upcoming year.

The facts are they have a LOT coming back, a year bigger, stronger, faster and smarter, from a 10-5 team last year. That’s no joke and whatever else any of their 2027s can contribute (injured or just coming up out of their ranks) will be green colored icing on top for the Irish.
