CDH 5 @ Stillwater 17
Bounce back statement by Stillwater, 2 games from their opening season loss to PL. Couldn’t watch this one…feels a lot like too tough on the draws and too much depth for the Ponies. Not stats yet.
Hopkins 2 @ Wayzata 13
Good old NSPN! Hop started the game up 1-0…and played Wayzata tough all first quarter (1-1)…but the Torjans slowly and steadily pulled away in this one.
While Q1 was sloppy and full of turnovers…Q2 & Q3 were noted by quality work at the draw circle and tons of offensive possession time for Wayzata.
6-2 Wayzata at half…11-2 after Q3 and 13-2 final.
Hoefter (Way): 2 goals
Marks (Way): 2 goals
Roeder (Way): 2 goals
Owens (Way) 3 goals
Mitchel (Hop): 1 goal
Hahn (Hop): 1 goal
Minnetonka 19 @ STMA 3
We found this one late and seemed like thier stream might have also started late…no complaints, crazy weather night.
It was 11-3 Tonka at half and they probably played a better half in the second. They didn’t allow a goal, with several solid saves from Adi Rothschild.
14-3 after Q3. 19-3 final. Stats we have are second half only:
Botten (MKA): 3 goals
Skramstad (MKA): 2 goals
Gilbert (MKA): 1 goal
Palm (MKA): 1 goal
Marshaman (MKA): 1 goal
White Bear Lake 7 @ East Ridge 11
Back and forth 1st half, as the teams traded goals.
Q1 ended 4-3 in favor of East Ridge, which included a 30+ min weather delay. ER had 4 8m goals and really controlled the draw.
Q2 was slightly more disjointed and a little sloppy, partially in thanks to each teams’ defense. Each squad scored a goal, making if 5-4 ER @ half.
Q3 - East Ridge won the draw and Kami Szybatka scored her 2nd of the game in quick fashion (assist might have gone to Limpert depending on how stingy the scorer would be with the stat)…and then scored three more in almost quicker form (Walz & Limpert & Walz again), thanks to some nice play in the transition and clear. WBL is a solid program and didn’t give up…forcing a turnover and converting a quick goal (West).
Just as the game was flowing great and goals were being scored, the referees…and one in particular, felt left out and starting blowing whistles and pulling green and yellow cards in lightening quick fashion. Let’s be real…once the game is getting too much fun to watch…you’ve got to make the game excruciating for everyone. Great use of that green card to make sure the ER player was 5 back, instead of 4.5…. Anyway…9-5 ER after 3.
Q4 - WBL…not going away, scored a quick one to start the final stanza and followed up with a FPS, to cut the lead to 2, at 9-7. Unfortunately, that was the final goal WBL would score. ER spread things out and ran their deliberate offense, waiting for only super quality shots. East Ridge scored the last 2 goals, to make it 11-7, which was the final score.
Maci Szybatka (ER): 1 goal
Kami Szybatka (ER): 2 goals
Limpert (ER): 3 goals
Walz (ER): 2 goals
Simpkins (WBL): 2 goals
Lehman (WBL): 2 goals
Helmberger (WBL): 2 goals
West (WBL): 1 goal
