Section Review: June 6

Ahhhh…wild day. Let’s get into it!

Upsets - 6/6:

1. Section 3: #5 Simley 8 @ #1 Park 7

2. Section 3: #3 East Ridge 16 @ #2 CDH 7

   1. We’re going to unpack Section 3 together.

   2. Holy shit

   3. Section 3 has been the wild, wild west all season - with all the teams beating each other all season - why on earth we didn’t expect that to continue in the playoffs…you got us. We’re stupid. Some might even say clueless.

   4. Park was the most solid of the Section 3 teams, but did have a few stinkers:

      1. Lost to Woodbury 12-10, beat WBL 7-6, beat East Ridge 5-3, beat CDH 7-5

      2. They beat Simley 15-7 on May 8. That’s wild.

      3. They beat Stillwater 6-5. Best win of the year.

   5. Simley obviously had the roughest season, but they played a sneaky for real schedule

      1. Played Blake, PL, Woodbury X2, Rosemount, Park X2, H-M, Maht, Gentry. Thats no joke.

   6. East Ridge honestly makes the least sense:

      1. Lost by double digits to Stillwater, lost to Maht, lost to Park, beat Woodbury and H-M by one…AND LOST TO CDH 18-8 ON MAY 10!!!!!!!

   7. CDH - what a disastrous end of the season

      1. Before and including Friday, May 12, CDH was 8-2, scoring insane #s of goals, and was kind of a darling…

      2. Since Friday May 12, CDH is 1-4, with the only W against Visitation.

         1. Something broke. We’re not smart enough to see what…but something clearly did.

         2. Would love to be a fly in some CDH rooms tonight…and maybe some charter joints as well.

3. Section 7: #3 Centennial 9 @ #2 Andover 6

   1. Lost in the Section 3 whirlwind…Centennial backed up their April 3g win, with another one in June

   2. A little bit of a thumb to the eye to the coaches that seeded Andover over Centennial, despite their Head to Heat win

Other Notable Games - 6/6:

1. Section 1 Final: #1 Lakeville 20 vs #2 Farmington 3

   1. No surprise here, but a tip of the cap for winning the section

2. Section 8: #4 Buffalo 9 @ #1 Elk River 10

   1. This score was posted early and we semi expected it to be the best game…it ended up being the 4th most interesting game

   2. Buffalo obviously righted their ship mid season

   3. ERZ dodged a bullet there…against a team that was maybe penalized a little too harshly in their seeding.

3. Section 7: #4 Chisago Lakes 3 @ #1 Champlin Park 10

   1. Pour one out for CL…no longer undefeated. Congrats on the season and the ride you had.

   2. CP’s instagram account continues to be totally on fire…and liberally uses DTA samples…which is awesome

What’s Next - 6/7:

1. All three games are section finals…they’re now important no matter what.

2. Section 4: #3 Gentry @ #1 Stillwater

3. Section 2: #2 Eden Prairie @ #1 Chanhassen

4. Section 5: #2 BSM @ #2 Maple Grove
