Man Up - Tiger

This Man-Up play is an another way to get into a 3-3 with some motion and changing the numbers in the crease to cause defensive confusion. It starts in a 2-2-2 and moves into a 3-3 when the ball arrives behind. When your back left Attackman pushes the side the movement begins.

  • Move the ball forward up the wing

  • The other attackman behind follows

  • The ball carrier will throw back once he gets about 5 yds up the hash

Once the ball moves back:

  • The original ball carrier continues up the hash and the new ball carrier keeps pushing in the same direction

  • The middies rotate in a triangle into the ball

    • top middy cutes to crease

    • Back side middy comes over the top

    • Crease middy vacates out into shooting space backside

  • Crease attackman should go to the back pipe

NOTES:

  • If the defense plays this well and rotates/communicates through the action, you have morphed into a 3-3 where you can work from there for the rest of the man up opportunity or reset and run it again.

  • This play works both directions so you should run it in the direction of the strong hand of the attackman you want feeding. Your best attack shooter should be the first carry as they could get the ball right back for a shot

  • While this is being described as a play - at the higher levels, this can just be part of a scripted movement and make decisions based on your read of the man down defense that is being run.
