The Valley 10 v Shakopee 9: The first of two OT thrillers in the early window. Back and Forth game between two good teams with the Valley prevailing in overtime. I am most impressed by the Valley being able to put up 10 on Shakopee. They have held teams in single digits all season. Two really good teams that will improve from this game despite the result. Both teams still have yet to see Lakeville North which now have become extremely interesting matchups.

Lakeville North 19 v Prior Lake 11: It’s hard to remember a time PL had 3 SSC losses. Even in a tough conference, they always were the team to beat and always found a way to grind out conference wins. LN plays at a pace that is extremely tough to defend. They remind me of the 2017 eagan wildcats. Just sort of play freelance, but, so much energy and speed with ability to win face-offs, the relentless pace is hard to play against for 48 quarters.

Edina 8 v Minnetonka 7: This game was super intriguing as a way to compare and contrast where these teams are at. Well, this game offers more questions than answers. Minnetonka looked to be in control most of the game, but the Hornets stuck around and played a great 4th quarter before getting the GW in overtime. Both teams are strong and should be able to make some noise in playoffs.

BSM 16 v Moorhead 1: Ummm… I thought BSM would win, but, not by this margin. Holy smokes. Moorhead looked solid against Shakopee, but, has had some struggles in their last two games almost being upset by Elk River. Maybe those games wore on them and they just weren’t ready to compete with the Red Knights. Nonetheless, BSM showing that their ceiling is still incredibly high. Also, doesn’t look like Brandt played in this game… which is even scarier.

Chisago Lakes 9 v Duluth 6: Chisago has struggled with Duluth the past few years (with a better team) so I was curious on how this game would go. Chisago has been obliterating their competition and Duluth has struggled with teams in the metro. However, this game was close the whole way. I think this probably helps CL lock in a 1 seed for Sections (unless centennial goes on a tear). Centennial probably ends up the 2 with SOS and Duluth is the 3. So, we could potentially see a rematch but Duluth would need to get through the Cougars first. If centennial locks in a quality win in the second half with the SOS, they probably get the 1 and we could see a Duluth/CL semi rematch… which, as a fan, I am hoping for!

Chanhassen 16 v Jefferson 6: Jefferson was sort of rolling with some nice games and then ran into the Storm. Chan is just a machine… no two ways about it. At their worst, they are competitive. At their best, they are dominant. I am looking forward to their game with BSM - although both teams may hold some secrets back - I think it will still be a great game with talent littered all over the field!

CDH 8 v Eastridge 7: Eastridge has been just a roller coaster ride this year. They have something to work with and have had some nice wins and close losses. Seems all of their games are close games. Riding a bunch of freshman and 8th graders, this team is only going to improve. CDH seems to be putting things together. I think there is talent on this team to maybe steal one in the playoffs
