Game Notes 4/15: Mounds View @ Moorhead

Weather…not great.  36F and windy at game time.  Like windy enough that it moved a net.  Mounds View won another back and forth game today, against Moorhead, 10-9. It looked legitimately terrible to be out there playing.

SpudsTV on YouTube is fricking awesome.  Free.  Replays.  2 people in the booth that know enough to call it an 8m and knew the back up rules on shots…nice job guys!  NFHS should be embarrassed they even exist.  We’re watching every Moorhead home game just for the experience.

Moorhead has an 8th grader on goal, Lake Parr.  She is not afraid of the ball – she’d going to become a real solid goalie.  She made some really good stops throughout the entire game.  Exciting for Moorhead.

Refs let the girls play in this game.  Everyone was cold and there is no need for a whistle fest (like L and Stillwater apparently was).

Sydney Martinson from MH is going to be a factor!  5g 2a.  She could have been more ball dominant. But she worked hard to keep her teammates involved – good thing.

Maddie Tinkle from MV went off!  Pulled out a griddy celley on the first goal.  Pretty much swagged it up every chance she had.  Kind of a menace.

Tied 4-4 at half.  Moorhead had to rally to tied it up.

Moorhead took an early lead in second half, but it was literally back and forth all game.

Maddie Tinkle from Mounds View scored 2 goals between 5-8 min left in game to take a 9-8 lead.  Martinson tied it up at 9 with 3:30 left.  Gigi Otto from Mounds View scored the winning goal with about a minute left.

Passes were forced a little too much on both sides.  This led to a lot of turnovers.  It was April 15 with a wind chill in the low 20s in Moorhead, MN…we’re going to allow a little grace.

Moorhead had to have a huge advantage on the draw.  Too bad that they didn’t capitalize as much as they could/should have.

We’re not totally sure we like Moorhead’s hidden ball play.
