Game Notes 4/21: Woodbury @ East Ridge
In the battle to own the greater Woodbury side of town…Kinda big collapse by Woodbury. Not a great look.
Woodbury led 5-2 at half and didn’t score a goal in the second half to lose 6-5.
First of all…East Ridge parents. If you’re going to be near or in the press box when there is a live stream going…try to act a little like you’ve been there…especially the first half when you’re losing. Moms, dads – didn’t matter. You all sounded like rubes. Please.
On to the game.
Woodbury didn’t dominate the first half, but they controlled it. Maybe a little too much control. Lots of stalling and holding the ball. You have a D1 commit, who should have been able to score at will. A 3-goal lead is not enough to stall out with 4 min left in the first half. We could have written this recap out then. 5 goals a half (10 goals per game) is not enough, why on earth would you sit back?
Why are we ranting? Because East Ridge held their own on the draw and their goalie played just as well as Woodbury’s. It was not a dominating performance.
So what happened? ER came out a little more aggressive, a few more shots went in and you have a game that Woodbury should not have lost.
Impressed with the Limpert girls – we assume sisters. Giving a go at the Kurowski sisters. The Vangs are waiting patiently…. They played aggressive, obviously have been on a lax field before.
Woodbury tried really hard in final 60 seconds, but honestly…way too little way too late.
